Our first contact was via a dating site in December 2019. Sonia asked Fredrik what would attract him to Stockholm and his answer was, unsurprisingly, a black-throated thrush. Fredrik came to Stockholm in January 2020. There was no black-throated thrush that time, but a fantastic love story. Sonia fell for Fredrik's calmness, humility and wise thoughts. Fredrik fell for Sonia's thoughtfulness, generosity and humor. It also doesn't hurt that we're both so damn good-looking!
For several years we lived in a long distance relationship with the Baltic Sea between us, but suddenly one day that black-throated thrush finally flew to Sweden to speed us up a bit. On April 8, 2023, we saw our first black-throated thrush together in Tidö outside Västerås. Seven months later, on November 11, 2023, we checked into Näsby Castle to plan our future. It resulted in a so-called Näsby agreement (a kinder version of the Swedish government's Tidö agreement), see our happy faces as we shake hands at Näsby Castle in the photo to the left. In the agreement, we agreed on a number of things, including that we will get married in the summer of 2025. After that we both proposed in quite unique ways - Fredrik with a homemade bird ring made of steel so he could "ring" Sonia, and Sonia with a bureaucratic declaration of love.
